Finn Wolfhard was born in Vancouver, Canada, on December 23, 2002. His parents, Eric Wolfhard and Mary Jolivet, emigrated to Canada from Berlin, Germany afterward. Being in an environment filled with French culture as a child, Finn quickly learned the language. In addition, he picked up on the Spanish, Italian, and Hungarian that his parents spoke at home.
Finn was interested in the performing arts at an early age, participating in school plays and taking dance lessons. Later on, he enrolled in a child’s acting program at The Vancouver Young Actors School and eventually moved on to performing in professional theater and television series.
Breakthrough Roles
Finn Wolfhard’s big break came in 2015 when he was cast for a lead role in the supernatural horror series Stranger Things. as Mike Wheeler. As one of the main characters of the show, Wolfhard was praised for his performance and earned a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.
However, his time on Stranger Things was only the beginning. In 2017, Wolfhard had the opportunity to further showcase his acting talent by playing the role of Richie Tozier in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s It.
